Albany Technical College has a history that dates back to 1961. That was when it was established as the then Monroe Area Vocational Technical School. Then it was enrolling 175 students. Not long after,, the Albany Area Vocational Technical School was built, and then in 1972 the two outstanding training schools merged and continue at the current location in Albany. Albany Technical College carries an accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award Associate of Applied Science Degrees.
